BOGOTA, CALI, CARTAGENA and MEDELLIN, 9 August 2019 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has organized six roundtables within the framework of its Quality Programme for the Chemical Value Chain in Colombia (GQSP Colombia) to validate the value chain; recognize markets of interest and the institutional environment; and identify needs and technical barriers. More than 50 private stakeholders from Bogota, Cali, Cartagena and Medellin and Cali took part in the roundtables, whose conclusions will be used to formulate the working lines for sectoral training and technical support of the GQSP Colombia.
Priorities highlighted for the sustainable sectoral growth include the implementation of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS); the adoption of sustainability and green chemistry principles (especially for the plastic sector); and the strengthening of the sector’s surveillance and control institutions. The participants further highlighted the importance of academia, transport logistics operators, and waste processors to face the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities of the chemical value chain.
The roundtables were organized by GQSP Colombia with the support of Colombia Productiva, the National Business Association of Colombia (ANDI) and Acoplásticos.
