The General Conference is the highest policymaking organ of UNIDO. The nineteenth session of the Conference (GC.19) will be held from 29 November to 3 December 2021. It will be hosted in the UNIDO headquarters in Vienna as a hybrid event, involving both in-person and virtual participation.

GC.19 takes place at a critical juncture following the Secretary-General’s call for a “Decade of Action” and in light of the prolonged economic recovery in store for countries all over the world. Now more than ever, UNIDO must capitalize on its rich expertise, importance and recognized role in the international development arena. By bringing into stronger focus the practical aspects of the implementation of its mandate of inclusive and sustainable industrial development UNIDO supports countries get back on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within the ongoing and fast-developing parameters of the COVID-19 pandemic, GC.19 will guarantee sound legislative proceedings and maximum Member State participation while safeguarding the health and safety of all participants.
