Relations with intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations
UNIDO fosters strong partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) to promote, dynamize and accelerate industrial development. Formalizing these partnerships through consultative status for NGOs and relationship agreements for IGOs offers numerous benefits.
Establishing a formal relation with UNIDO enables NGOs and IGOs to participate in sessions of the policymaking organs of the Organization, and to engage in global debates and advocate for industrial development priorities. Access to UNIDO’s valuable information, reports and data on industrial development further empowers these organizations to shape their strategies more effectively.
Consultative status and relationship agreements provide NGOs and IGOs with enhanced opportunities to network and build partnerships with other development stakeholders committed to promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization. UNIDO’s recognition also enhances their visibility, credibility and reputation, which can lead to increased funding, support and collaboration opportunities from various sources. Finally, consultative status and relationship agreements enable NGOs and IGOs to align their efforts with UNIDO's sustainable development agenda and advocate for inclusive and sustainable industrial growth.
How to get involved
NGOs and IGOs interested in working with UNIDO are encouraged to first explore collaborative opportunities through joint initiatives before applying for consultative status or expressing their interest to enter into a relationship agreement with the Organization.
