Expert Group Meeting on the Organization’s Blue Industry Contribution to the Blue Economy Agenda

UNIDO is organizing a hybrid Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on Blue Industry from 2 to 4 December 2024, marking a pivotal step in the Organization’s efforts to strengthen its role within the global Blue Economy. The event will gather renowned experts, policymakers, representatives of Permanent Missions, and development partners to shape UNIDO’s Blue Industry Programmatic Framework.

Following the presentation of an InfoNote at GC.20 in November 2023 and a Development Dialogue in July 2024, the EGM will focus on refining the vision, mission, and Theory of Change for the Programmatic Framework. Discussions will also explore strategies to enhance sustainability, inclusivity, and the economic potential of Blue Industries, while showcasing good practices, fostering cross-sectoral linkages and identifying strategic partnerships.

Expected outcomes include actionable recommendations for supporting countries in implementing Blue Economy policies and practices and a detailed report on enhancing the impact of Blue Industries. The EGM aims to secure Member States’ endorsement of the Blue Industry Programmatic Framework, positioning UNIDO as a key player in advancing the global Blue Economy and contributing to the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

The event is open for online and in-person participation. For those interested in attending virtually, please register via the following link to receive a calendar invitation.
