Addressing key challenges in fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood trade policy for sustainable development

UNIDO, UNCTAD, the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) and the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) and other sponsoring agencies will be organizing a side event on “Addressing key challenges in fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood trade policy for sustainable development”. The meeting will be an occasion to introduce most pressing challenges in fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood and present most recent multilateral, regional and national sound solutions, and best practices in trade policy for sustainable development. UNIDO will showcase its recognized global contribution to the development of National Quality Infrastructure Systems and to promoting quality and standards to meet sustainable development challenges of the blue economy, building on successful ongoing projects. In particular, UNIDO will join the GSSI to present the Seafood MAP which is a globally inclusive digital platform to compile and accelerate fisheries and aquaculture efforts on the pathway to sustainability.
