Director General's meeting with Staff Council
14 December 2021
VIENNA, 14 December 2021 – The UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller has met with representatives of the Staff Council and called for all colleagues to work together.
Müller highlighted that, despite difficult circumstances, the UNIDO General Conference was held in an efficient and coordinated manner, and concluded with good results.
"I have been impressed with the contributions made by all of UNIDO’s employees and want to thank you for your tireless efforts – whether working from home or coming into the Vienna International Centre, following strict COVID protocols," he said.
He continued, emphasizing that “there are many issues that we must address, but we cannot do everything at once,” adding that he will start a review process to develop the UNIDO 2025 strategy.
He told UNIDO staff, “Your participation in this effort will be very important. I want to build on the existing work, UNIDO’s projects and successes, but also, together with you, set new priorities for the future and further strengthen the Organization.”
Müller invited staff “to use the end of the year to recharge your batteries and renew your ideas for a UNIDO of the future - together we can and will achieve a lot, step by step!”
He concluded with this rallying call, “Let us get to work, with determination and a positive spirit! Both are indispensable, particularly in difficult times.”
