UNIDO conducts a study tour on EU Digital Legislation for Ukrainian participants in the Green Industrial Recovery Project Ukraine

Brussels, February 2024 - In the context of the Green Recovery Vision for Ukraine | UNIDO organized a study tour to Brussels, Belgium in order to strengthen and convene partnerships and build capacity on Digital Transformation and AI Strategies in the framework of EU digital legislation. In total, 7 representatives from the Ukrainian Ministry of Strategic Industries, The Ministry of Digital Transformation, as well as the Ministry of Justice participated.
During the study tour, participants met with key leading European Institutions such as Directorates from the European Commission: The Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), The Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), The Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT), The Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL), and The Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), as well as representatives from the European Parliament, and notable associations and think tanks like the Centre for European Policy Studies and DigitalEurope to explore best practices and exchange of knowledge.
A wide range of topics were explored, including understanding and integrating the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, the EU Digital Service Act and Digital Market Act in national Ukrainian context and frameworks; introducing the EU Digital Agenda; delving into the EU industrial strategy and amplifying the European Single Market; as well as engaging with Artificial Intelligence and exploring associated inquiries concerning Civil Liberties and Ethics, including compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
