SEVENTH ISID FORUM: PARTNERSHIPS FOR INDUSTRY 2030
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 3 November 2019, 3:00-6:00 p.m.
UNIDO organises regular forums on Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID). These forums bring together UNIDO Member States and partners to engage in a dialogue on various aspects of industrial development, to exchange knowledge, to forge partnerships, and to shape strategies for advancing ISID. The first such Forum was held in 2014. So far, six ISID Forums have been organised by UNIDO. In November 2018, an advanced session of the Seventh ISID Forum entitled “Insights from PCP countries” was held in Vienna, on the sidelines of the forty-sixth session of the UNIDO Industrial Development Board, as a prelude to this year’s event.
The Seventh ISID Forum featured an interactive discussion on “Partnerships for Industry 2030”. It took place on 3 November 2019 as part of the eighteenth session of the UNIDO General Conference, held under the overarching theme of “Industry 2030 – Innovate. Connect. Transform our Future”.
The event brought together high-level representatives of governments, international and regional organizations supporting industrialization, financial institutions, the business sector, UN entities, and other development partners to share their experience and views.

FORMAT
The Forum consisted of two moderated panel discussions.
The first session looked at how multi-stakeholder partnership models, such as UNIDO’s Programme for Country Partnership (PCP), can support the achievement of national development goals, including the realisation of the Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (IDDA III). The panel featured high-level government officials from PCP countries in addition to representatives of international and regional organisations.
The second session highlighted how various actors contribute knowledge, expertise, technology, and financial resources to support the industrialization process, particularly in Africa. The panel comprised representatives from governments, financial institutions, the private sector, and other development partners.
