02 July 2017
VIENNA, 2 June 2017 – LI Yong, the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), reiterates UNIDO’s support for the Paris Agreement on climate change as a crucial step towards achieving a greener, sustainable future, limiting the harmful effects of climate change.
UNIDO has worked to protect the environment and combat climate change for many years by supporting Member States to comply with multilateral environmental agreements such as the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, and by working in partnership with entities such as the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
Green industry is the industry of the future. UNIDO will continue to work extensively with its Member States and other stakeholders in achieving the targets and goals set by the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by adopting green industry best practices to safeguard the environment.
Together we must build a sustainable and green future to preserve our planet for future generations.
