Item 13:  Recommendation of a candidate for the post of Director-GeneralStatements were made by the representatives of Argentina and Burkina Faso.
The Board recommended Mr. C. Magariños for the post of Director-General and adopted two decisions. Statements were made by the representatives of Sweden (on behalf of the European Union and associated States: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey), Japan and Burkina Faso and the observer from Senegal.

Item 14:   Preparations for the ninth session of the General Conference
Statements were made by a representative of UNIDO and the representatives of the Russian Federation and Sweden. A representative of UNIDO replied to the queries raised during the consideration of item 14.

The President made a statement.
