Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5)
The world’s Least Developed Countries (LDCs) are in a race to deliver crucial global development goals by 2030. This new decade needs to usher in a new global partnership to secure a better future for the world’s most vulnerable nations.
UNIDO will be participating at the 5th United Nations Conference on the LDCs (LDC5), addressing industry related challenges and facilitating structural economic transformation in LDCs.
Specifically, UNIDO will participate in high-level official meetings and lead or co-lead several side-events to stimulate conversations on how to implement the new Doha Programme of Action for LDCs 2022-2031 and accelerate the SDGs in LDCs, within its mandate of inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID).
The main objective of UNIDO’s contribution to the LDC5 conference will be:
- To showcase and share its experience, technical expertise and best practices
- Foster policy dialogues on various thematic topics including digital and green transitions and
- To forge partnerships for the promotion of inclusive and sustainable industrialization for LDCs in support of their graduation and attainment of the SDGs
UNIDO is working closely with the Office of the High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (OHRLLS), the UN’s focal point for the LDC5 preparations.
