What is the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS)?
The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) was established in 2015 to build bridges between manufacturers, governments, multilateral organizations, technologists, the research community and investors, in order to harness the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s transformative potential for inclusive and sustainable industrial development. A joint initiative between UNIDO and the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates, GMIS is a platform which helps us create new partnerships, initiatives and actions connected to digital manufacturing.
Previous Summits have been held in Abu Dhabi, Yekaterinburg and at Hannover Messe (virtually) respectively. The fourth edition of GMIS will be convened in parallel to Dubai Expo 2020, under the theme of “rewiring societies: repurposing digitalisation for prosperity” from 22 to 27 November 2021.
In addition to the plenary session, which will feature high level speakers from the worlds of policymaking, governance, the business sector and research community, GMIS 2021 will feature a number of additional elements, aiming to transition the Fourth Industrial Revolution from dialogue to action. Several thematic GMIS Working Groups have been established, addressing spillover issues, such as the Global Initiative on Future Industrial Safety(GIFIS); the creation of an Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Performance Index (ISIP); the green chain initiative on decarbonization; and gender equality and women’s empowerment.
GMIS 2021 will also see advanced industrial exhibitions, side events and open days for the general public.

What is the GMIS Digital Series?
The GMIS Digital Series is a high-level promotional webinar series, bringing together thought leaders from a multi-stakeholder perspective to address regional level concerns about the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The GMIS Digital Series 2021 will address digital manufacturing challenges in Latin America, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
