Green Industrial Policy Programme
Empowering governments and industry stakeholders to drive inclusive green economic growth and industrial development that align with SDGs in the face of new global development challenges
Our expertise lies in guiding our partners in enacting policies that drive the greening of existing industries and supporting them in the policy-making process to drive the establishment of new green industries. We provide tailor-made advisory services and create awareness, knowledge and skills, in order to build capacity and increase engagement with international partners through targeted trainings and the management of local and international projects.
Our technical know-how, strategic policy advice and tools, as well as resources and training opportunities, strengthen the implementation of green industry best practices on a global scale in line with UNIDO’s mandate.
Policy Tools
We believe in fostering evidence-based policies and do so by providing policy tools including customized national green industry assessments.
We also develop action plans based on national government priorities, sectoral level analyses and initiatives, and guidelines for improved industrial production processes, which drive resource-efficient productivity, and low-carbon transition to foster sustainable economic growth.
Trainings and Events
We are committed to strengthening the capacities of relevant institutions and individuals to advance inclusive green economy goals at national, regional and sectoral levels.
We empower our partners with a wide range of training opportunities including a bi-annual specialized summer training programme for green industry policy-makers and practitioners from partner countries across the world.
Green Industry Sectors
The green industry initiative promotes green and low-carbon industrial development in manufacturing sectors and small and medium enterprises. The focus remains on the key high-impact sectors, such as textiles, iron and steel, fertilizer, cement, and food and beverage, which have higher potential to contribute to a country’s climate objectives.
