on National Circular Economy Roadmaps by UNIDO and Chatham House

UNIDO, together with Chatham House, is delighted to announce the launch of a new publication 'National Circular Economy Roadmaps: A global stocktake for 2024'.

Since 2016, over 70 national circular economy roadmaps and strategies have been published, as governments are striving to accelerate their transition towards a circular economy. UNIDO and Chatham House have together conducted a review of these 70+ national circular economy roadmaps and strategies, encompassing more than 2,800 policy actions.

This publication marks the world’s first global stocktake of national circular economy roadmaps, aiming to bridge knowledge gaps and shed light on critical aspects of these CE roadmaps. The publication presents what types of actions these roadmaps commit to, how they are governed and their utility in the wider circular transition.

The report further explains the key trends in the global development of these roadmaps and also discusses the visions, goals, and targets included in some of the roadmaps and strategies. The report introduces a circular economy public policy taxonomy developed for this study and additionally, explores implications for governments developing their own strategies.
