Riyadh, 1-5 June 2024 – During a strategic mission to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) advanced efforts to consolidate and harmonize activities in preparation for the second edition of UNIDO’s Multilateral Industrial Policy Forum (MIPF), which will be jointly hosted by UNIDO and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fourth quarter of 2024 in Riyadh.

The UNIDO delegation was led by Ciyong Zou, Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development (TCS). During the mission, UNIDO representatives met with counterparts from the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources as well as with members of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program. The discussions led to agreeing on roles and responsibilities to formalize their partnership for the Forum, as well as on the key elements to be featured at the event.

Both UNIDO and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are committed to achieving tangible, action-oriented outcomes from the Forum. These outcomes are intended to establish a solid foundation for the twenty-first session of the UNIDO General Conference to be held in Riyadh in 2025.
