What is SMIC?

Located at the University of Novi Sad in Serbia, and in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center (SMIC) is pioneering the integration of cutting-edge digital technologies into manufacturing across Serbia and the Western Balkans. Through our strategic partnerships and global knowledge exchange, we are leading the way in driving innovation and establishing new standards in the manufacturing sector.

The Western Balkans, with their rich industrial heritage and a robust spirit of innovation, are uniquely positioned to harness the potential of Industry 4.0. UNIDO is supporting them in their transformative journey towards inclusive and sustainable industrial development. The SMIC is a collaborative effort of UNIDO, the Governments of Serbia and Slovenia, and esteemed academic and private sector partners, providing support for startups, SMEs, and large enterprises from the region to thrive in the digital age.
