Facilitating Technology Transfer for Sustainable Industrial Development

UNIDO champions the dissemination of innovative industrial technologies among countries in the Global South and businesses across a spectrum of sectors including agriculture, low-carbon energy, and sustainable product creation. We customize technologies to suit the unique industrial landscapes of developing countries—considering their stage of industrial advancement, geographical context, and national development objectives. Our technology transfer initiatives aim to deliver scalable, impactful solutions that not only elevate technological capabilities but also integrate developing countries into global value chains.

Empowering Countries through Knowledge Exchange and Capacity Enhancement

Promoting awareness of Southern perspectives and sustainable alternatives is fundamental to satisfying the needs of our Member States. Beyond mere technology transfer, the nuanced understanding of operating these technologies, structuring businesses around them, attracting capital, and ensuring their eco-friendly and socially responsible application is vital. To this end, UNIDO fosters a culture of learning and capability expansion among its Member States in the Global South. We conduct study tours, organize delegate programs, hold workshops, and offer training sessions, alongside facilitating multiple platforms for exchanging industrial wisdom. These initiatives equip developing countries with the specialized knowledge essential for strengthening their industrial competence.

UNIDO: A Global Catalyst for SSTIC

SSTIC is not just an acronym but a cornerstone of UNIDO's strategy to significantly influence dialogues on South-South cooperation within the United Nations framework. Through SSTIC, UNIDO has become an instrumental participant in global forums and conferences focusing on South-South cooperation. Our initiatives span the organization of themed events, partnership-building with the private sector, and engagement with governmental bodies and various stakeholders. UNIDO’s convening power in industrial development enables businesses and governments in the Global South to connect with a diverse array of global partners. These partnerships serve as the bedrock for achieving long-term, scalable results, furthering the mission of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID).
