Since 1976, UNIDO has been working with the authorities of Côte d'Ivoire to achieve their development goals in line with inclusive and sustainable industrial growth.
UNIDO supports the country’s government in its strategic vision of long-term industrialization and in its ambition to improve the competitiveness of the Ivorian industry by upgrading its industrial enterprises, supporting the quality approach, promoting consortia export and developing regional and global value chains.
One of the challenges the country faces is employment, especially youth employment and the inclusion of vulnerable populations in the productive system. UNIDO's interventions have helped put in place an innovative mechanism that supports the integration of young people into the labour force combining vocational training, entrepreneurship, self-employment and the creation of income-generating activities.
Achieving energy security by 2030 is another major challenge for Côte d'Ivoire. UNIDO responds to this challenge by engaging with the Ivorian authorities in developing renewable energy in the country and implementing major international conventions on the protection of the environment.
